There is little doubt that the Imus/McCord team will be enshrined as one of the greatest in the radio and cable television medium. The Imus/McCord partnership ranks right along side Johnny and Ed!
Only an insider would know, but my sense is that Charles McCord kept the car on the highway over many years when crashes were inevitable. He played a major role in the transition of the show from the shock jock genre to becoming a national platform for the enormously relevant discussion of social and political issues.
During the programs zenith, those fabulous years during which Imus in the Morning was simulcast on WFAN and MSNBC, we witnessed an incomparable four consecutive hours of daily live entertainment.
Charles McCord deserves great credit for his years of collaboration in the success of Imus in the Morning. As this chapter in broadcasting history closes the record will show that Charles McCord brought great distinction to the profession.
