Les Goldberg

Another iconic figure in the radio industry has died.

Les Goldberg made enormous contributions to the radio representation business. Les was a formidable competitor during the period in which over two dozen radio representatives of substance competed for both clients and advertising dollars. He recognized early the power of both country and urban radio. He was a highly visible advocate for the advancement of women and minorities in the industry.

Despite his competitive spirit, there was a gentle personal side to Les Goldberg. He had a strong sense of fairness and give and take. He always supported industry initiatives and was the person within Interep that could smooth relationships and willingly stepped forward to do so.

We have been saddened this month by the loss of both Les Goldberg and Stu Olds.  It is the passing of an era from those who were instrumental in forging the business of radio during its most exciting and competitive years.
